Boston Trip 5/23- 5/26

Drew and I returned home from our trip together last Thursday. We had a wonderful time visiting both Boston and New York City. I will start with posting Boston Pictures.

BOSTON
Saturday
  1. We flew into Boston on Saturday. We couldn't check into our hotel yet so we walked a couple blocks to "Cheers" to eat lunch. This is the original restaurant and the inspiration for the show.

2. After eating, we went for a walk through the public gardens and Boston Commons.

A monument of George Washington.

3. We still could not check into our hotel so we took the subway to Harvard University.

4. Then after FINALLY checking in, we went to Fenway Park. The Red Sox had a Saturday night game, but we did not go. We enjoyed walking around with all the CRAZY fans. We went to dinner near Fenway and watched the game at the restaurant.

Sunday
We woke up Sunday morning and walked out of our hotel to find a race!!! It was a 5 miler and a 13.1 (half-marathon) miler. If Drew knew about it he would have registered... and I am glad he didn't!

1. We spend Sunday morning walking the Freedom Trail in Boston. It is 2.5 miles long and has 16 different points that are apart of our U. S. History.

Click on the collage to make it bigger.
This collage shows 15 of the 16 points along the Freedom Trail.

3. The Massachusetts State House
4. Park Street Church
5. Granary Burying Grounds
6. King's Chapel
7. The Old Corner Book Store
8. Old South Meeting House
9. The Old State House
10. Boston Massacre Site
11. Faneuil Hall

14. Copp's Hill Burying Ground
15. USS Constitution
16. Bunker Hill Monument

Most of what we saw and read along the Freedom Trail took me back to when I learned U.S. History in school. I remembered quite a bit and it was neat to see sites to relate it all to.
Below are more pictures from along the Freedom Trail.

2. After finishing the Freedom Trail earlier than we thought, we decided to take a 90-minute historical ferryboat ride of Boston Harbor.

Monday
We woke up and rented a car to drive to Cape Cod.
1. We stopped in Plymouth to see the Mayflower II and Plymouth Rock.

2. When we entered the Cape, we stopped in Hyannis to eat lunch and walk around the town.
3. We continued down the Cape and stopped at Harding's Beach and walked for awhile.

4. We ended our day on the Cape in Chatham. The ice cream was delicious!!!!
We drove all the way back to Boston, turned in our rental car, and checked into a different hotel for our last night in Boston.
That evening I still had not had Boston Cream Pie, so we walked to Cheers (again!) and I ordered my pie to go!

yummy!!!
