Emmy's New Habits...

Emmy has added some undesirable habits to her daily activities.

 1.  Emptying her clothes out of her dresser.

 2.  Pulling all of her books off of her bookshelf.

3.  Taking off her diaper and pooping on her sister's floor! And playing with it!

The story... I was enjoying my Sunday newspaper and coffee when Emmy came running into the kitchen, pointed down the hallway, and was grunting (she doesn't talk*). I got up to go see what the fuss was about. She lead me upstairs and as I approached the top of the stairs I saw her diaper in the hallway. She was wearing her nightgown so I pulled it up to see a naked butt... GREAT! I was about to pick up the diaper when I glanced into Keelin's room and saw poop on the carpet... EVEN BETTER! She showed me her hand...it was covered with poop, so she obviously played with it. No more nightgowns for this child.

* I took Emmy to the doctor on Wednesday.  Our doctor wanted to see her again before her 2 year well-baby check-up because she wasn't attempting to talk or make sounds at her 18 month appointment.  Emmy is still not attempting to talk much.  She says Daddy and Mommy very clearly.  She says a few other words that we can understand (the average person would have no idea what she was saying.)  She doesn't seem to be interested in talking...but she loves to scream LOUDLY to get our attention.   She understands us very well and responds to us talking.  We decided to have a speech evaluation done on her.  I will update this as it happens.
She weighed in at 23.0 lbs and is 32.5 inches tall.  She is 22 months old.

Keelin's Crafts

Keelin made a stepping stone.  It turned out to be messier than I thought...
We put it out front by the porch.  I got Keelin a purple butterfly when we were in Michigan so that was put by the stepping stone.

I made Keelin and Emmy a bunk bed for all of their baby dolls.  Keelin decorated it with all of her favorite things.  I painted the outlines of the shapes and she painted the insides.  I was so amazed at how steady she was with the paint brush.

Babies have a home.

And Keelin does too.

Holy Spirit Summer Social

We took the girls to the Holy Spirit summer social last night.  I took Emmy to play games while Keelin jumped in the bounce houses.  I got Emmy's face painted like a butterfly and of course when Keelin saw her she had to have her face painted too.

scary ?????   Butterfly Super Villain ?????
I stayed and worked at the social so Drew had to take the girls home and bathe them.  He said, "No more face paint... EVER" Sorry Honey!

Emmy

I have been bad about updating my younger squirt.  Emmy is full of energy.  She was a handful today.  She started the day by eating Keelin's vitamin fruit snack.  ooops.  The little stinker climbed up on the stool and just popped it in her mouth while I was helping Keelin.
Then...(we have a lock on our pantry because Emmy can open it, but it is often left unlocked) I found her eating crackers in the corner of the dining room.  Not an hour later she was eating Frosted Flakes between the couch and ottoman.  Later I found her eating Fruit Loops in the playroom.  (note to self...vacuum soon)
Finally...at dinnertime...Keelin was refusing to eat her dinner and had already spent about 45 minutes sitting in the dinning room.  She came into the kitchen and I told her to go back to her food...well...in that short time Emmy had climbed up on Keelin's seat and grabbed her chicken fajita and was swinging the two (empty) soft shells in the air...cheese and chicken were flying all over the dinning room.
What a day!

I did snap this picture of Emmy today.  I asked her if she wanted her picture taken and she shook her head "yes".  We stepped outside and I snapped 4 pictures.  She stood against the brick and said, "eeeese".  Wow...I don't think I have ever had that easy of a time taking a photo of either of my children.

Holiday World

Keelin has been bugging me all summer to go to Holiday World.  I decided it would work out to take her on a weekday when I could take Emmy to daycare.  I called my friend, Jamie, because I knew her family had season passes and I knew Keelin would be thrilled if her friend Hannah could come with her on her first trip.

Would you trust these two tourguides (Keelin and Hannah) to lead you around an amusement park?

Do you think it looks HOT?  We were in line for our first ride of the day...by the way these two look you would think it was the end of the day.

We got split up on this ride.  I think Hannah is having fun !!!

Keelin and Hannah having fun in the splash area by Holidog's tree house.

 Keelin and Holidog.

Keelin and the girls from Christmas, 4th of July, and Halloween.

We had such a good time!  Keelin can't wait to go back again!  We spent the morning riding rides and the afternoon in the water park.

Children's Garden

We took the girls to the Children's Garden at MSU on Wednesday. (I have never been there!)

Teaching Emmy to smell (not pick) the flowers.

Keelin and Emmy finding their way through the "Alice in Wonderland" maze.

Emmy getting a little help from Grandpa.

The girls had a great time running around the gardens and playing.  We walked through all of the gardens and then had lunch at Bdubs on campus.  For dessert we went to The Dairy Store for homemade ice cream.  It was so yummy!!! an added bonus...we saw Kirk Cousins (MSU's quarterback) and the MSU offensive line (those are some BIG guys).  They were getting ice cream too!

Golfing and Splash Park

Tuesday (7/12)- Drew and I played golf at a newer course, College Fields.  It is near Michigan State University.  My goal on this trip to Michigan was to do something I have never done in Michigan before.  I have never played golf here.  This was a very challenging 18 hole course!! I think I lost 6 balls!

The rough behind Drew was everywhere!!!! You can't find a ball in that!

After golf, we took the girls to Hawk Island to go on a bike ride on the river trail in Lansing.  After the bike ride, the girls ran around at the splash park.

Another fire in the evening! so relaxing after a long day! The fire was so big it was coming out the chimney and hitting the bush behind it.

Michigan (Trip 2)

After completing many home projects (with the help of my parents), we decided to head to Michigan for Drew's shutdown week from work.  The girls were excited to get to see their grandma and grandpa AGAIN.  Last Saturday, we ran the Miles for Mom 5K and then took off for Michigan.

We arrived Saturday evening but the girls were up for a swim.

Keelin brought her golf clubs with her and practiced her golf swing in the backyard.

 Emmy...future golfer???

 Wrestling time with Grandpa!
 Planning their next move...
It's a draw...Grandpa got Emmy, but Keelin got Grandpa!

We took our bikes to Michigan.  We went on two bike rides...one through Mason and one through Lansing.  The girls really enjoyed the trailer.
We had a fire in my mom's chimneya (sp?) almost every night.
 Keelin enjoying a S'more!
