Boston Trip 5/23- 5/26

Drew and I returned home from our trip together last Thursday. We had a wonderful time visiting both Boston and New York City. I will start with posting Boston Pictures.

BOSTON
Saturday
  1. We flew into Boston on Saturday. We couldn't check into our hotel yet so we walked a couple blocks to "Cheers" to eat lunch. This is the original restaurant and the inspiration for the show.

2. After eating, we went for a walk through the public gardens and Boston Commons.

A monument of George Washington.

3. We still could not check into our hotel so we took the subway to Harvard University.

4. Then after FINALLY checking in, we went to Fenway Park. The Red Sox had a Saturday night game, but we did not go. We enjoyed walking around with all the CRAZY fans. We went to dinner near Fenway and watched the game at the restaurant.

Sunday
We woke up Sunday morning and walked out of our hotel to find a race!!! It was a 5 miler and a 13.1 (half-marathon) miler. If Drew knew about it he would have registered... and I am glad he didn't!

1. We spend Sunday morning walking the Freedom Trail in Boston. It is 2.5 miles long and has 16 different points that are apart of our U. S. History.

Click on the collage to make it bigger.
This collage shows 15 of the 16 points along the Freedom Trail.
1. Boston Commons
2. Robert Gould Shaw Monument
3. The Massachusetts State House
4. Park Street Church
5. Granary Burying Grounds
6. King's Chapel
7. The Old Corner Book Store
8. Old South Meeting House
9. The Old State House
10. Boston Massacre Site
11. Faneuil Hall
12. Paul Revere House
13. Old North Church
14. Copp's Hill Burying Ground
15. USS Constitution
16. Bunker Hill Monument

Most of what we saw and read along the Freedom Trail took me back to when I learned U.S. History in school. I remembered quite a bit and it was neat to see sites to relate it all to.
Below are more pictures from along the Freedom Trail.

2. After finishing the Freedom Trail earlier than we thought, we decided to take a 90-minute historical ferryboat ride of Boston Harbor.

Monday
We woke up and rented a car to drive to Cape Cod.
1. We stopped in Plymouth to see the Mayflower II and Plymouth Rock.

2. When we entered the Cape, we stopped in Hyannis to eat lunch and walk around the town.
3. We continued down the Cape and stopped at Harding's Beach and walked for awhile.

4. We ended our day on the Cape in Chatham. The ice cream was delicious!!!!
We drove all the way back to Boston, turned in our rental car, and checked into a different hotel for our last night in Boston.
That evening I still had not had Boston Cream Pie, so we walked to Cheers (again!) and I ordered my pie to go!

yummy!!!

One Week Left!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

One week can describe a few things!!! One week until school is out for the summer!!! OR One week until Drew and I leave for Boston and New York City for a week!!!! OR One week until my parents come to watch Keelin for the longest stretch Drew and I have ever been away from her.
YIKES! So much to do between now and Saturday!!!!

While Drew and I are away, we are putting my dad to work! (We opened the swimming pool for my mom and Keelin to enjoy while we are gone!) My dad...we are putting him to work.
He is going to build me 2 flower boxes on the backside of our deck. He is going to tear out the old steps and build new ones also. You can see the new grass that is already growing from where Drew tore out the stone walkway. I can't wait to come home and see it all done!!!!
Before Pictures
I will post after pictures when we return from our vacation!

Random Yard Pictures

We have been doing a lot of work with our backyard lately. With the beautiful weather this spring, we have been spending a ton of time back there. It all started with the building of Keelin's swing set, the on-going yard work, opening the pool, and tearing up old walkways.

Having a picnic on Keelin's new picnic table.

Keelin loves swinging on her new horse.

Keelin has been watching me scoop big leaves and sticks out of the pool with the skimmer.
So...this is her mimicking her mommy.
She is using a fly swatter to scoop and then she dumps it over the fence!

Drew is growing new grass where he tore out a stone walkway.
Keelin loves to help water the "baby" grass.

My peony plant is going flower crazy this year!
They are so beautiful! (and in vases all over my dining room!)

Thursday, May 14th

We took Keelin to the St. Ben's Summer Social on Thursday night. Once again...I left my camera at home so my cell phone had to be my saving grace. This is the first social we have attended this year! It is going to be so fun this year with Keelin! She was all about riding rides!

First, she chose the "horsies"!!!
Then, she chose to ride the swings!!!

Last, she chose to ride the cars!!
Keelin enjoyed eating french fries!! Wonderful diet!
She also enjoyed the kiddie games: putt-putt golf, diving for alligators, throwing bean bags at Sponge Bob, and tossing bean balls into buckets! She doesn't really play fair yet when it comes to the tossing games!
She won play money and traded it in for Woody (from Toy Story) and Tow Mater (from Cars).

Baby Loves American Idol

I have not felt the baby move much yet and my doctor told me because of the way he/she is positioned I probably wouldn't feel much...well tonight was very different!
I was watching American Idol...anxiously...and the little bean in me was going crazy!!!! He/she must have been responding to my emotions because I was antsy!
The little bean must be a Kris fan too! GO KRIS!

My 20 Week Ultrasound

Today I also had my 20 week doctor's apt. and ultrasound. Everything checked out just great! We did not find out what we are having!!! Drew asked the tech when she was almost done if she knew the sex of the baby and she said, "YES!" (but she did not tell us). When we saw my doctor, he said the chart said "normal sex genitalia" He said the tech probably thought he would spill the beans if she put it on there. SOOOO....all of you who wanted to know you will have to wait until Friday, September 18th at 9am!!!!! That is when the c-section is scheduled!!!!
Here are some of the ultrasound pictures...

A Drew look-a-like??????

Me today at 20 weeks!

While Drew and I were at the doctor's appointment, Keelin was with her mamaw. Look at was Mamaw bought Keelin at Rural King for her swing set.

I am adding some Mother's Day pictures to this post.
Keelin and I on Saturday.
I made new calendar cards for my mom and my mother-in-law.

Finally, Keelin smelling the beautiful Peonies in our backyard.

Keelin's Allergic to...

I took Keelin to an allergy doctor (allergist) today. She did great. Since she is so young they only did 10 prick tests down each arm. She got to play in a pretty cool fish themed room so she wouldn't touch her arms for 15 minutes. There was a big fish tank in the back of the room that Keelin ran to. She found Nemo and Dori!!!! She was in awe!!!! I was pretty impressed too! (so I took a few pictures with my cell phone!)

After her 15 minutes of distractions and me watching her arms welt up (knowing that ment she was allergic to something...) we went back to see the nurses and doctor. ( I should have taken pictures of her arms!!!)
Keelin is allergic to dust, mold, weeds (fall season), and DOGS!!! She tested negative to trees, grass, and CATS!!! Drew and I are both allergic to cats, so she is our opposite.
