Florida Vacation

We went to Orange Lake Resort again this summer! We arrived in Florida on Friday afternoon.  Drew's parents had just finished checking in so we met them at the clubhouse before driving to the East Village to move into the condo for the week.

Can you tell the girls were excited to cross the Florida border?
After unpacking and ordering pizza for dinner, we walked down to the East pool to go for an evening swim!  The pool was packed on a Friday night!

The girls were excited to share a bed for the week!

Saturday morning we headed down to a free breakfast because Drew's parents were attending the owners meeting.  The "Fun Team" visited the girls and gave them balloons.  Emmy was a little nervous about the reindeer character.

After breakfast on Saturday, we spent the day at River Island.

The girls loved swimming/floating around the lazy river.

Saturday afternoon, the girls' cousins, Ashlyn and Cooper, arrived!

Sunday morning Butch, Clay, Drew, and I went golfing.  We played The Reserve 18 hole course.  It was a monumental golfing day for me!  After nine holes, I was beating Drew by 3 strokes!  That has never even come close to happening before...especially on a Florida course.  I was having a really good game for me and he was having a very bad game for him.  After the turn...Drew started drinking and shot a +1 on the back nine (which ended up beating me by 13 strokes.) But...I did shoot my best round of golf ever! 98!  I broke 100 in Florida!

I golfed in my new golf shoes... must have been my lucky charm!

Emmy gets Stung

Emmy got stung by a wasp for the first time.
We were at Keelin's swim lessons in Newburgh.  I took Emmy over to the playground to run around and play while Keelin was swimming.  Emmy was playing the musical pipes when a few wasps flew out.  I saw her waving her hand in front of her face and then she started to cry.  I knew she got stung somewhere on her face.  She said her lip hurt and continued to cry.  I immediately saw her lip start to swell, so we went to the pool office.  I couldn't find anyone, so I went to Keelin's instructor in the pool.  She was so helpful.  She got out of the pool and got Emmy some ice and some sting wipes.  Emmy was a rock star!  She cried, but she stayed calm and did not scream.
When we got in the car to go home, Emmy said, "Mommy, do I look funny?"  That is Emmy's personality!  She finds humor in everything! I said, "Emmy, can I call you my little duck?" (Her lip looked like a beak!)

Here are two pictures shortly after she was stung, sitting in the pool office area.

After a stop at the drugstore to get children's Benedral and a stuff dog, we made it home.
Emmy enjoyed eating Popsicles on her swollen lip.  By the evening, her lip was back to normal!

I would never wish getting stung on any child, but I am glad this happened to Emmy before Keelin.  Emmy is so tough.  It would have been "drama central" had it been Keelin.

4th of July

On the 4th of July, we took the girls to Holiday World.  This was the first time all 4 of us have gone to Holiday World together.  It was a pretty chilly day (sounds funny since it is July!) so we spent most of the day in the amusement park.  We went into Splash n Safari for a little over an hour, but we were all cold and it was very crowded.
4th of July Land on the 4th of July!

 Emmy loved the train!

Drew ALWAYS wins the basketball game!
He wanted the IU ball, I wanted the MSU ball, and Keelin wanted the pink ball (it was UK...blaaahhh).  Look who's choice of basketball won!

We left the park with enough time to drive home, get changed, and head to the fireworks!

We went down to the riverfront to watch the fireworks.

Bowling

Drew's brothers are in town visiting for the week!
We all met to go bowling at Willow Lanes. This was Emmy's first time bowling and she loved it.  She was so funny and animated.

This was Keelin's 2nd time bowling!  She showed so much improvement from last time she went (like 2 years ago!).
Uncle Taylor was helping the girls read the scores.

Swim Lessons

The girls started swim lessons on July 1.  I registered Keelin but Emmy was just on a trial to see if she liked it.  Emmy lasted about 10 minutes and then got out of the pool and walked over to us.  I tried to take her back to the pool but she said she was cold and that she did not like the boys.  Her two instructors were boys and all the other kids were boys.  It was a rainy cold day, so she just wasn't in the mood.  Maybe next year!

Keelin loved her first day of swim lessons and is looking forward to being in a pool everyday for 2 weeks!

She was a little scared of the diving board!
The lifeguard had to drop her into the water because she would not jump!

Planting Flowers

Plants!
The girls have collected different plant seeds by visiting different library locations for the summer reading program.  We spent time planting them.  Right now they have visited 4 different library locations.

Holiday World

Keelin and I went on our 3rd annual trip to Holiday World with Hannah, Kyle, and Jamie Broeker.  It is always a fun day!  We spent almost the whole day in Splashin' Safari.
