Laufenfest 5K and Little Dutch Run

Saturday morning we went up to Haubstadt, IN to run in the Laufenfest 5k. Keelin ran in the Lil' Dutch Run. It stormed in the morning but it cleared up as we arrived! It made for a cooler run. This race is notorious for being so HOT! You run into the sun for the last mile of the race...which is horrible.

Keelin getting her number attached. This is the first race where she had to wear a number. The funny thing is all the kids wear the number 1!

Emmy hung out in the jogger all morning.

Keelin and I before her race!

Lining up!

Run...Keelin...Run!
so focused!

medal in hand...and looking for me!
( I am standing right in front of her!)

Drew and I both ran good races! I started out ahead of Drew (he was pushing the girls). With about a half mile to go...Drew caught up to me and passed me. He finished in 24:07 (a PR pushing the girls!). I finished in 24:25 (a PR by almost 3 minutes!!!!!!!!!).
You can see the results HERE.

Go Team... Funny!

I had Emmy in her Michigan State onesie and Keelin's Notre Dame hat on Saturday.

"Go Notre Dame!!!" (Emmy's reaction...)

"Go Michigan State!!!!" (Emmy's reaction...)

"Go Notre Dame!!!!" (Emmy's reaction...)

(sorry Notre Dame fans!!!)

Emmy is 9 Months Old TODAY!

Emmy this month...
  • is now rolling everywhere. She can get from her stomach to a sitting position. She gets to her hands and knees and rocks back and forth...crawling will be VERY SOON. She can stand holding on to something for a short amount of time. She still does head stands...so strange! I have a good picture of it below.
  • is now eating all the 2nd foods, she is entirely on formula now, eats cut up fruit in a mesh pocket holder thing, and eats puffs. She has also had juice, but like her sister, is pretty disinterested in it.
  • is saying da, ba, wa, and has a scream that is ear piercing.
  • started daycare once a week.
  • went to her first Otters' baseball game, first trip to the library, first summer social at Holy Spirit, and made her first trip to Indianapolis.
  • she went swimming in our pool for the first time and loves the water. She loves to smack the water and look at it splash.
  • loves her toys!!! She really likes the alphabet blocks right now and anything that makes noise.
  • loves to play with Keelin. They have this screaming battle to see who can make the loudest noise. (It is not fun to be around...especially when it happens in the car!)
  • she claps!
  • she is 15 lbs 12 oz. and 26 inches. She is still on the small size but very active.
  • she still goes with the flow! We can take her anywhere and do pretty much anything with her in tow! She is always happy!

I woke up this morning to the sound of Keelin and Emmy in the monitor, so I walked into Emmy's room and found this... Keelin was entertaining Emmy!

YIKES! so...I put her in this position, but we dropped the bed later that day!

Emmy loves this play table!

Ready to crawl!

The best for last!!!
This is the crazy headstand she is ALWAYS doing! I swear she will forward roll before she is one! The funny thing is...she walks her feet in until she is right up on her tip toes!

Central Library

Wednesday I took Keelin and Emmy to Central Library downtown Evansville. I have been meaning to get Keelin to a library sooner then this...and I don't have any legitimate excuses why we haven't gone until now. Better now than never! Keelin a few months back was watching PBS kids in the morning and she came running to me saying, "Mommy, look at the TV. There is a room FULL of BOOKS!" I explained to her that what she saw was called a library. She had a great time, but she was much more interested in the big boat to play in and the other puzzle activities than the books!!! She ended up checking out 2 books, 2 music cds, and 3 movies.

My friend Abbie met us there with her two kids and her mom.

Abbie took this adorable picture of Macie and Keelin playing together.

I forgot to take my camera with me, but I captured this picture of Keelin and Macie together in the boat on my cell phone.

Soccer Ends

Last night was Keelin's last soccer class. She attended all 12 classes every Tuesday night! We were late to soccer last night because a bad storm hit our area right when we were ready to leave. We made it just in time for the snack and drink to celebrate the last class. Drew took Keelin out onto the field since we missed that part of the class.

She really enjoys soccer!
She is only 3 so we are going to take a break from sports right now. I plan to put her in a gymnastics class this winter and then probably soccer again next spring.

Feeding Deer

On Tuesday, Keelin went with her mamaw and papaw to a local farm to feed fawns.

Doesn't Keelin look so thrilled?

Keelin feeding a deer an apple slice.
She really enjoyed her day with her mamaw and papaw.
They went to lunch and then Keelin got to go see her Aunt Kate's new house!

Swimming

Swimming in the pool is one of the best times of the summer! Keelin loves to swim and Emmy (so far) loves getting in the water!

Emmy Goes for a Ride

Emmy went for her maiden voyage in the bike trailer!! We went one time around our block this morning and then 2 times around the block this evening! She loved it! Hopefully next weekend if it is not too HOT...we can take the girls for a longer bike ride.

Today Drew was up in Terre Haute running what I would describe as a "stupid" race! The race started at 7am and ended at 7pm. His team had 5 runners. The course was a 5K length. They took turns running the course constantly for 12 hours! He ended up running like 19.2 miles total over the course of the day. Let me tell you...the temperature was in the 90's today! I am all for running...but this was totally stupid! His team ended up finishing with 89.8 miles which put them in 3rd place. I wish I had pictures to post of this...but he did not take a camera.

If you are interested in reading about this "crazy" race click HERE!
Their team name was "We've Got the Runs".

Okay...I found some pictures from one of their teammate.

Holy Spirit Summer Social

Last night we went to the Holy Spirit Summer Social! When we left our house it was not raining...we drove through torrential down pours on the way...and it was sprinkling when we got there!! The rain stopped and we enjoyed ourselves!

We had great food! Drew went for the tenderloin, Keelin went for a hot dog (surprise...surprise!), and I had chicken and dumplings and an egg roll (interesting combo!).

"Yikes! We are high!"

"Hi Dad!"
She quickly got over the height issue!

Emmy enjoyed her first summer social!!!
Keelin played some games, I bought a variety of raffle tickets, and we left with some homemade candy!! Good times!

Otters Baseball

We took Emmy to her first Otters Baseball game on Wednesday evening! It was not a very exciting game but we made the most of it with food and family time!

I found my old...old...old...camera (which is not digital!) It takes advantix film. well...there was still film in this camera with about 5 pictures left, so I thought I would finish off the roll, get it developed, and see what I find!!! I wasn't even sure the film WOULD develop! but it DID! On the roll were pictures from Chicago in 2005 when I ran the Chicago marathon for the first time! Oh the treasures!

Emmy checking out the action!

As you can see...the quality is not very good and the dates are messed up!

Emmy Videos

Emmy has been saying, "Da" for about a month now!

Emmy started clapping over the weekend!

Garage Sale and Golf

This past weekend was garage sales and golf. I did not have my camera for either event so I am posting pictures from my phone and from Jamie's blog.
Friday and Saturday I spent at my friend Jamie's house. She had a garage sale and we took a bunch of our stuff over there.
On Sunday, Drew and I played in the Hornville Golf Scramble. It was my first time playing golf in almost 2 years! We had a ton of fun! We tied for 3rd out of around 24 teams. We finished 9 under (61) using best ball game play.

Drew and I before heading out to our shotgun hole.

Me getting ready to tee off

Drew waiting as Ryan tees off

Drew and Clay watching Ryan's shot.
Our team had a Cardinals theme. They came around and took team pictures so if I can get my hands on that I will post it.

No garage sale pictures...but Jamie took this cute picture of Keelin and Hannah getting some good use out of the empty garage sale boxes.
Keelin had a great time playing with Hannah!

Brothers in Town

Drew's brothers came to visit from Colorado Springs. We had them over for dinner last Thursday evening.
Keelin, Taylor, Emmy, and Austin

We went over to Pops' house on Friday night for another dinner. It was a much nicer evening and we were able to spend the whole time outside.

We are headed over there again tonight for another dinner. Taylor flew home on Saturday but Austin is still in town until tomorrow. It is always so nice to see them!!!
