Jordyn Wieber...Olympics!

While we were at home in Michigan, I took the girls into my old training gym... Twistars USA.  I knew camp was going on so I didn't know the training schedule.  When we arrived at the gym, Jordyn was talking to all the campers!  Perfect timing.  I took the girls out on the floor so I could visit with my old coaches, John and Kathryn Geddert.  We were able to to wish them good luck this summer! (Olympic Trials had not happened yet!)
As we were about to leave Jordyn came out of the locker room so we were able to tell her good luck too!

Before leaving I dropped almost $80 on three Jordyn Wieber t-shirts for us!
Here we are ready to watch Olympic Trials!  June 27th.

and now it is almost time for the Olympics to start!  Jordyn is on the Olympic team and John is the women's Olympic gymnastics team coach!  WOW!  So proud of my home gym!
GO team USA!

Cardinals vs. Tigers

Thursday, June 21st:  Comerica Park

My cousin Tracey and I went to the Detroit Tigers vs. St. Louis Cardinals baseball game.  Talk about good timing on the schedule!  Of course we were cheering for opposite teams and the Tigers came out victorious.

Jake Westbrook pitched the winning game of the series (previous nights game)!  He was out signing autographs before the game.
 Skip Schumaker... my favorite player!

I got to see Prince Fielder hit a home run!  I guess it was appropriate because I grew up watching his dad, Cecil Fielder, hit home runs for the Tigers when I was a kid.

Emmy's First Movie

Wednesday, June 20th
The girls and I were going to go to Potter Park Zoo but it was so hot outside.  When we stopped by the theater to get a gift card, we decided to go to a movie with animals in it instead... that meant air conditioning!  So...Emmy went to her first movie!  Madagascar 3!

Hawk Island Park

Tuesday, June 19th:  Bike Ride, Picnic, and Splash Park

My mom and I took the girls to Hawk Island Park to bike the trails that go all through Lansing.  We biked 10-15 miles (we didn't track it).  We biked to MSU and then over to Potter Park Zoo where we had a picnic lunch and the girls played on the playground.  We biked to downtown Lansing along the river walk and stopped at the city market for gelato.  We then biked back to Hawk Island so the girls could play at the splash park.

Visiting Friends

Monday, June 18th:  Visiting Nicole, Drew, Brady, and Taya Schanski

We went to a strawberry farm that was having a cookout with activities.  Keelin and Emmy got strawberries painted on their hand and check.  We also went on a hayride.

We picked strawberries in the fields.  Emmy was a little out-of-control!  She picked bad strawberries, ate strawberries, and threw strawberries.

All of our strawberries!  I ended up freezing the strawberries and then made homemade jam.

We also went shopping at the Carter's Outlet.  I bought the girls matching outfits and Nicole took pictures of them on the beach at Lake Michigan.  I can't wait to see them.

Surfing and Sprinklers

Saturday, June 16: My parents' 39th Wedding anniversary! and heading home from the cabin

We stopped by the Clears' home in Traverse City to visit and swim.  Emmy loved this surfboard and Mr. Clear helped her pretend like she was surfing!  Look how excited she is!

Back in Mason, the girls pretended to surf on a body board my parents had from when I was a kid.

The girls (or I should say Keelin) enjoyed running through the sprinkler.

Emmy wasn't so sure about the sprinkler!
