Disney on Ice

Drew and I took the girls to the Ford Center to see Disney on Ice.  We went a few years ago, but this year they added “Tangled” and “Brave” to the show!

Keelin's Tennis Video

Keelin has shown huge improvements in her ability to volley back and forth over the net.  She has been asking her tennis instructor to hit with her over the "big" net.  After class on Friday he let her stay after to volley with him.

Emmy’s Soccer

0417141707b

Emmy is doing Soccer Tots at Metro again this spring.  We have seen a huge difference in Emmy’s attention this season.  We know it has to do with her being in school this year. She did a great job listen to her instructor, Heidi, and keeping her hands off the ball!

Emmy Gets Stitches!

WARNING: Bloody gash in Emmy’s forehead pic below!

Emmy ran into the top of a metal tunnel on the playground at preschool.  She did not duck low enough to clear the tunnel so she smacked her forehead on the top of the tunnel causing it to splint open.

I got the phone call around 12:30 in the afternoon.  Fortunately, I had an assistant working in my classroom with me at the time so I was able to run over (literally…since Emmy’s preschool is on the same property as the school I teach at) to check on Emmy.

Once I arrived, she was pretty calm sitting on Mrs. Thomas’ lap, but she definitely needed a couple stitches.  I had to head back to my classroom to grab my purse and make sure my class was covered for the rest of the day.  Another teacher, Miss Zimmer, joined me to make the trip to urgent care with Emmy.

They got her back really quick!  (Heck… she was already in the system from her broken arm two months ago!!) The numbing shot was awful!  It took three of us to hold Emmy still while the doctor numbed her head. She loved the “squirt gun suringe” that the nurse used to clean out the cut.  They even let her keep it!  During the stitches, Emmy was still a little squirmy probably because she was hidden under a sterile cloth and couldn’t see anything.  She was good as gold once the stitches were over!

As a parent who has now gone through the process of a broken bone and stitches…stitches is FAR worse!

After Emmy left preschool in the afternoon, many of her classmates made her cards to help her feel better.

Storm!

As we walked out of Keelin’s tennis lesson at ETC, we could tell there was a storm front quickly approaching us from the East.  You could clearly see it was pouring about 100 yards away across the field.  We quickly jumped in our cars.  My mom and dad were in town visiting so my mom and Emmy road with me, and my dad and Keelin road with Drew.  It started to pour as I backed up my car and was raining so hard I had to pull over behind another vehicle on the access road going back out to Lynch Rd.  We waited out the storm which only lasted maybe 10 minutes, but it was a hell of a 10 minutes!!! You could feel the SUV rocking in the wind and the hail hitting the SUV was so loud.  Emmy was crying in the backseat because she was scared.  I assumed Drew pulled over too, but later found out he kept driving!!! (I don’t know how! You couldn’t see anything!)

As it cleared, we started our drive home.  Along Lynch Rd, there were many fences that were blown over.  As we went around our neighborhood construction, there were huge tree limbs down across yards and roads. We had to drive over two down electrical lines…ooopppps.  A huge tree was completely uprooted as we turned into our neighborhood.  It was crazy!  When we got home, our flag pole was blown off, our table and chairs were blown over, and our umbrella landed over the fence in our neighbors yard.

And then there was the empty space in the middle of the backyard that USE to have a trampoline.  GONE.  There was no damage to the yard barn or 6 foot privacy fence!  The trampoline was also staked in the ground!  It was picked up and tossed over the fence into our neighbor’s yard behind our house!  Maybe 100 yards!

Our tree fared better than both of our neighbors’ trees across the street.
