Children's Garden

We took the girls to the Children's Garden at MSU on Wednesday. (I have never been there!)

Teaching Emmy to smell (not pick) the flowers.

Keelin and Emmy finding their way through the "Alice in Wonderland" maze.

Emmy getting a little help from Grandpa.

The girls had a great time running around the gardens and playing.  We walked through all of the gardens and then had lunch at Bdubs on campus.  For dessert we went to The Dairy Store for homemade ice cream.  It was so yummy!!! an added bonus...we saw Kirk Cousins (MSU's quarterback) and the MSU offensive line (those are some BIG guys).  They were getting ice cream too!

Golfing and Splash Park

Tuesday (7/12)- Drew and I played golf at a newer course, College Fields.  It is near Michigan State University.  My goal on this trip to Michigan was to do something I have never done in Michigan before.  I have never played golf here.  This was a very challenging 18 hole course!! I think I lost 6 balls!

The rough behind Drew was everywhere!!!! You can't find a ball in that!

After golf, we took the girls to Hawk Island to go on a bike ride on the river trail in Lansing.  After the bike ride, the girls ran around at the splash park.

Another fire in the evening! so relaxing after a long day! The fire was so big it was coming out the chimney and hitting the bush behind it.

Michigan (Trip 2)

After completing many home projects (with the help of my parents), we decided to head to Michigan for Drew's shutdown week from work.  The girls were excited to get to see their grandma and grandpa AGAIN.  Last Saturday, we ran the Miles for Mom 5K and then took off for Michigan.

We arrived Saturday evening but the girls were up for a swim.

Keelin brought her golf clubs with her and practiced her golf swing in the backyard.

 Emmy...future golfer???

 Wrestling time with Grandpa!
 Planning their next move...
It's a draw...Grandpa got Emmy, but Keelin got Grandpa!

We took our bikes to Michigan.  We went on two bike rides...one through Mason and one through Lansing.  The girls really enjoyed the trailer.
We had a fire in my mom's chimneya (sp?) almost every night.
 Keelin enjoying a S'more!

4th of July: Fireworks

Monday: July 4th: Evansville Fireworks
We went down to the riverfront around 7:30pm.  We parked our 6 chairs on Old Nationals lawn.

The girls had fun running around by the river.

The fireworks were about to start.  The girls were waiting so patiently in their chairs.  Emmy had never witnessed fireworks before so I was anxious to see her reaction.

Keelin loved the fireworks.  The last time she saw them was when she was 2.
So the first reaction was shock...

Then it was thought provoking...

Then it was cool...

and finally EXCITING!
Both girls were up until 10:45pm and in amazingly good moods.

Keelin's Birdhouse

Earlier this year, I bid on a bird feeder from Keelin's preschool class.  I knew I wanted to wait to hang it up when we got a new house.  So yesterday we hung it up on the back fence.

A dragonfly did not want to let me use the hook.

Happy Anniversary!

June 29, 2011:  Drew and I celebrated our 9th wedding anniversary.  Kate came over to watch the girls so Drew and I could go to dinner.  We went to Biaggi's and then to Lowe's for some new home items.  We didn't plan anything special this year...unless you count a new house!

Keelin and I were at Schnuck's getting a few groceries and she wanted to get flowers for us for our anniversary.  She had these beautiful roses which I was going to tell her "no" until I saw that they were only $7.99.  (When did roses get cheap?)  I don't buy flowers, but I always thought roses were more expensive.   Well...anyway...THANK YOU Keelin!  It is almost a week later now and they still look beautiful.
